| MICHAEL PASTOU WINS UCMMA LIGHTWEIGHT BELT | |
Powerful wrestler, Michael Pastou claimed the vacant Ultimate Challenge lightweight title with a close-fought decision win over London Shootfighter, Francis Heagney. Throughout the fight, Heagney scored the initial takedown, but ‘One-Two’ was consistently able to force his way off the bottom and hammer away at his downed opponent.
Under pressure, Heagney showed flashes of brilliance as he repeatedly swept his way out of trouble with a rolling kimura, at one stage threatening to finish the hold before Pastou broke free.
In the final round, Heagney dominated from rear mount, frustrating the ensnared fighter to the point where he dropped his guard, allowing the Shootfighterto land a series of chopping shots to the head.
However, with his success in the first two rounds, the Team Titan representative had done enough on the judges cards to walk away with the title belt.
The highly anticipated bout between Ben Smith and Jamie Hearn fizzled out after only two minutes as Hearn mysteriously suffered a shoulder injury on the floor which forced him out of the contest.
Ben Smith was determined to take it to the ground and quickly seized his chance. After a few moments of Smiths ground ‘n’ pound taking effect, Hearn complained that he was injured and the referee immediately stopped the fight.

| BRAD ’ONE PUNCH’ PICKETT SIGNS WITH WEC | |
Fighters Only first announced the signing of Pickett, and MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) has since confirmed that WEC officials plan for him to fight Dietz in a bantamweight bout.
As the organization announced late last week, WEC 45 takes place Dec. 19 at The Pearl at The Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.
The night's main card, including the headliner of Donald Cerrone vs. Ed Ratcliff, airs on Versus.
The Pickett vs. Dietz bout is tentatively slotted for the night's preliminary card.
Pickett, a veteran of organizations such as Cage Rage and Ultimate Challenge UK, has fought in the U.S. in the past, though his WEC deal marks his first multi-fight contract with an American organization. He's currently riding a seven-fight win streak, which included an August win over former UFC fighter David Lee.
Despite the nickname "One Punch," his moniker isn't a reference to his knockout power (and instead, to the character One Punch Mickey in the movie "Snatch"). However, 11 of his 17 wins have come via stoppage, though only three came via way of knockout.

| THREE CHAMPIONSHIP BELTS FOR TITAN AT UCUK | |
Michael Pastou made a successful cut to lightweight and looked for all this world like a dried out He-Man figure. Thankfully, it didn’t affect his cardio too much otherwise opponent Mark Glover would have made him pay for it. Looking handy with both his hands and feet, Glover landed some good strikes early on, but as soon as things got heated, Pastou took him down and controlled the action with his wrestling base, punctuating his efforts with strikes.
Wesley Johnson will probably be wondering what exactly happened during the opening minutes of his encounter with Luke Smith as “Cool Hands” managed to land some impressive strikes and rocked him hard. Still, he persisted with his attempts at a takedown, but was visibly still shaken by the blows.
Scoring a takedown was a step in the right direction, but surprisingly it was Smith who went for an armbar. Working hard for the escape, Johnson then found himself mounted and eating punches. As soon as his mouthpiece made a lunge for escape the referee stopped the assault.
Dyson Roberts has been improving steadily over the course of 2009, showing a real passion for the game and in his victory of Brett Basset, a mean streak that knows when to go in for the kill. Bassett almost finished the fight shortly after the bell, but his guillotine choke attempt just wasn’t sunk in enough to force the tap. Make no mistake, Roberts was close and looked to be having a fit in order to escape. They hit the mat shortly afterwards and Roberts’ leg was next on the available list as Bassett went for a kneebar then a strange Achilles lock.
Fighting the urge to tap and writhing around in order to free himself, Roberts appeared to shift up a gear and positioned himself to strike. Bassett caught a couple of hard shots and they broke to their feet. Roberts closed like a shark smelling blood and threw everything he had at his opponent, opening up a nasty cut under his right eye and sending him crumpled to the canvas. The referee stepped in quickly to protect the fighter.
Ben Smith claimed the Heavyweight Grand Prix title in a two round fight with tattooed hardman, Wayne Weaver. Smith immediately shot in for the takedown and gained good control from the side and taking weavers back he proceeded to batter his Canvey Island opponent with sustained flurry of punches
Amazingly, Weaver took the punishment and came back with several hard knees to the head in the second round. However, Smith showed his resilience and proceeded to take weaver down again. Taking Weavers back the assault from behind setup a rear naked choked which had Weaver tapping to end the fight.

| TITAN SHINE AT CFC 5 | Henrique Santana Vs Yasubey Enomoto - CFC World Welterweight Title Team Titan’s Henrique Santana and Team Enomoto’s Yasubey Enomoto put on a classic ground battle for the vacant World Welterweight Championship in the fight of the night. Santana is a BJJ black belt and was able to take Enomoto down, but Enomoto utilised a rubber guard effectively to nullify the Brazilian’s attacks. Santana had his back but was unable to sink the choke before the Swiss fighter slapped on a beautiful tight triangle choke near the end of the first round, and Santana was literally saved by the bell. The second round was similar to the first, with Enomoto landing some elbows and still looking for submissions from his back. Santana probably got the edge on the judges scorecard due to his takedowns and control of where the round took place. Santana again looked for the takedown in the third, but Enomoto was able to use a kimura attempt as a reversal into mount. Santana gave up his back but was able to defend the choke until the referee stood them up. Enomoto was able to land a couple of strikes and stuff Santana’s last takedown attempt to end the fight. The judges decided that Enomoto had done enough to take home the title.
Karlos Vemola Vs Markus Hipp - CFC Heavyweight Title Defending CFC Heavyweight Champion Karlos Vemola entered the cage and immediately got in the face of Markus Hipp before the bell even rang. Clearly a man focused on the prize, he stormed over from the bell unleashing a barrage of strikes and a thunderous takedown. German giant Marcus Hipp was forced to tap out after landing awkwardly on his right shoulder.
Radek Piechnic Vs Mali Richardson Titan’s tough Polish fighter Radek Piechnic annihilated opponent Mali Richardson with his vicious ground and pound attack, aided by excellent positioning from mount that his opponent was unable to escape. Referee was forced to stop the fight in the first round due to ground and pound.
Ronnie Slater Vs Danny Lawson Ronnie Slater continued Team Titan’s winning streak with a referee’s stoppage over tough Origin Gym product Danny Lawson. Slater took the fight to the ground early, but Lawson soon used the cage to stand up and they separate on the feet. Lawson then used an inside leg trip to get the fight back on the mat, where he tried to pass guard unsuccessfully. The referee eventually stands them up due to lack of work. Both came out swinging in the second, until Lawson, who had a lot of vocal support, landed a leg kick that dropped Slater, following him down to the mat. Slater managed to reverse Lawson, and from mount, proceeded to punch his way to a referee stoppage after 2:30.Jon Tomkinson bt Victor Booty Team Titan got off to a good start, as Jon Tomkinson choked out Victor Booty in 49 seconds. Booty shot in with his neck exposed and Tomkinson sunk in the fight ending choke which put Booty to sleep.

| CAGE RAGE CONTENDERS 11 | | Both Jon Tomkinson and Chris Greig had the crowd on their feet at cage rage contenders 11. Jon Tomkinson on his first professional fight hammered away at Roy Allison to record a ground and pound finish. Chris Grieg laid a ground and pound clinic on opponent Kevin Ludick throughout the duration of the first round before being interrupted by the bell mid-armbar. Realizing that he was unlikely to stop Ludick with strikes, he set about finding a Keylock submission for the victory. | | www.mmaweekly.com / www.sherdog.com |
| GREAT WIN FOR TEAM TITAN AT CAGE RAGE 28 | | Team Titan won an impressive 4 out of 4 fights at Cage Rage 28.Brad Pickett, James McSweeney, Michael Pastou and Wesley Johnson all fought well to secure a well deserved victory.True to his word, Brad Pickett recorded a win over highly touted Lithuanian import Anastas Jazbutis by methodically picking him apart with strikes. Jazbutis looked to be tentative and unwilling to let his hands go, his approach was defensive and he never really strung any consistent combinations together during the bout. Pickett by contrast was on top form stalking his opponent around the cage and engaging with full force whenever the opportunity presented itself. He stepped in at the 2:01 mark of the third stanza with a vicious left hook to the body that stopped the fight. After a wild exchange to open the fight, McSweeney quickly clasped his opponent’s head and landed a brutal right knee that sent Webber to the floor and out of the contest. A seasoned K-1 competitor, McSweeney has won back-to-back fights.Michael Pastou and Nigel Whitear went to war, cramming a whole fight’s worth of action into 78 seconds. Pastou immediately shot in for a takedown, but Whitear demonstrated some smart evasive footwork. A left hook from Whitear temporarily halted his opponent’s charge, but he soon found himself planted squarely on his back. Unfortunately Whitear’s understanding of the rules was not up to par, and an illegal elbow to his opponent’s mouth resulted in his being disqualified.Wesley Johnson wasted little time in closing the gap between himself and opponent Matt Smith before securing the takedown and into mount. Smith responded quickly with a nice reversal, but anticipating the move Johnson had a tight triangle waiting in the wings and put the young fighter to sleep quickly for the win. | | www.mmaweekly.com |
| JAMES MCSWEENEY WINS FX3 HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE | | Both fighters started out strong firing on all cylinders, but neither landing much damage. McSweeney has always been rangy with his knees and tried to implement them into his game as much as possible. Cooper had obviously studied his adversary well and knew what he had on offer, so he set about throwing crosses and hooks as a response to every knee attack catching McSweeney flush on occasion and prompting him to work for the takedown. He scored it, but it wasn’t long before Cooper was back out to the feet. And so they engaged again, McSweeney looking for the knees and Cooper looking for the shoot. He went for a single, but was deflected with a fast sprawl. Transitioning fast, McSweeney piloted round to take his back and sink the hooks in, bypassing the hunt for a read naked choke in order to pound away at the side of his opponent’s head. At 3:09 into the round, referee Grant Waterman steps in to halt the bout. | | www.mmaweekly.com / www.sherdog.com |
| BRAD PICKETT VS CHRISTIAN BINDER | | In an exciting match between Brad Pickett and Italian Cristian Binda that saw both land with some devastating punches, it was Pickett's wrestling that proved the deciding factor. After Binda was dropped in the first round, Pickett scored with some great takedowns in the second before sinking in a tight guillotine at 2:52 of round two to take the well earned victory. | | www.mmaweekly.com (13/07/08) |
| JASON YOUNG CAPTURES BRITISH LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE | | Jason Young and Francis Heagney went to war for three rounds in their clash for the vacant Cage Rage British lightweight title. Heagney dominated the opening stanza, and threatened constantly with a D'Arce and then a guillotine choke. However, the young Titan representative refused to be dominated and controlled position on Heagney for the remaining two rounds, battering the Irish fighter from mount with punches, rightfully earning himself the British championship. | | www.sherdog.com (13/07/08) |
| MARK SMITH DEF. GAY GILBEY VIA GUILLOTINE CHOKE | | Mark Smith got back to winning ways at Cage Rage Contenders 10 with a 50-second submission win over the experience grappler Jay Gilbey After scoring a takedown from the clinch, Smith calmly sunk in the guillotine for the victory. | | www.sherdog.com (14/06/08) |
| BRAD PICKETT DEF. PAUL REED VIA DECISION | | Brad Pickett and Paul Reed had a war to remember with both fighters landing with punches and working their takedowns. Reed proved to have a snappy, powerful jab and managed to try it out on Pickett several times during the bout, forcing his head back regularly. Pickett ultimately edged ahead, though, having scored with a big flying knee and a lovely feign jab with a big hook on the end, both finding home where they needed to.“After about 15 seconds of having landed the knee, he turned round to me and said, ‘Good shot, acknowledging that I had caught him good and proper,'” commented the Team Titan fighter. He added for good measure, “I seem to make a war with everyone. If I fight a sub guy, I take them down. If I fight a striker, I stand and trade. I don't know what it is, but I seem to fight people at their game regularly.” So what next for Pickett? He needs to iron out a few things at the moment, but is adamant that we will see him somewhere soon on a good show, although his motivation is the belt, and he wants to continue down that road until he gets his chance again. | | www.mmaweekly.com (12/05/08) |
| POPEK RAK DEF. KEV SIMMS VIA TKO (Strikes) AT 1:12, R1 | | Simms knew that if he pushed the fight into the second round, he would be able to topple the Polish giant by pushing his cardio. He never got the chance, having fallen foul to a series of strikes that left the referee no option but to step in and call halt. “He caught me with a big hook that landed flush,” said the Gorilla Academy fighter after the event. “I can still feel it now, and although we went down, I thought I could handle him. But next thing I know, I see a black T-shirt stepping in and I realize that the ref stopped it.” Indeed, having taken the brunt of his opponent's offense on the chin, Simms scrambled to engage, but found himself planted on his back with his opponent throwing heavy leather. Rak had smelt the blood and was just hammering away like a trip hammer. | | www.mmaweekly.com (12/05/08) |
